Emergency First Aid at Work - 1 Day HSE Compliant
This NEW HSE approved one day course came into being from the 1st October 2009 and will allow successful attendees to be first aiders within the workplace.
The course covers the practical skills needed by a first aider in the modern workplace. The course will give the confidence and knowledge to deal with first aid emergencies.
By the end of the course students will be able to:
- Understand the role of the first aider including reference to the use of available equipment and the need to record incidents and actions.
- Understand the importance of basic hygiene in first aid.
- Assess the situation and circumstances in order to act safely, promptly and effectively in an emergency.
- Administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who is unconscious and/or suffering a seizure.
- Administer basic life support (CPR) promptly and effectively in line with the current Resuscitation Council (UK) Guidelines.
- Administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who is wounded or bleeding and in shock.
- Administer first aid safely, promptly and effectively to a casualty who is choking.
- Provide first aid for minor injuries.

- Emergency First Aid at Work Certificate valid for 3 years.
Since the 1st October 2009 the first aid regulations have changed and the HSE have introduced a new level of first aider in the workplace.
You may need to reassess your company's first aid needs and the number of first aiders in your workplace.
There should be a first aider available to take control of all first aid arrangements at all times when people are working.
