First Aid at Work Re-Qualification - 2 Days HSE Compliant
This two day course is designed to refresh those who hold a current First Aid at Work certificate and covers the practical skills needed by a first aider in the modern workplace. The course complies with the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981 and the Approved Code of Practice L74 guidelines for the re-qualification of workplace first aiders.
By the end of the course students will be able to:
- Assess and act in the event of an emergency.
- Administer CPR effectively to a casualty.
- Administer first aid promptly and effectively to a casualty who is unconscious.
- Administer first aid promptly and effectively to a casualty who is wounded and bleeding.
- Administer first aid promptly and effectively to a casualty with burns and scalds.
- Administer first aid promptly and effectively to a casualty with injuries to bones and soft tissue.
- Administer first aid promptly and effectively to a casualty with a suspected spinal injury.
- Administer first aid promptly and effectively to a casualty who is in shock.
- Administer first aid promptly and effectively to a casualty with eye injuries.
- Administer first aid promptly and effectively to a casualty with poisoning.
- Administer first aid promptly and effectively to a casualty suffering from anaphylactic shock.
- Administer first aid promptly and effectively to a casualty who is suffering a major illnesses (heart attack, epilepsy, diabetes, stroke).
- Administer first aid promptly and effectively to a casualty who has suffered a head injury.
- Understand personal hygiene in first aid procedures.
- Understand the legal framework of the Health & Safety (First Aid) Regulations 1981.
- Use the first aid equipment provided in the workplace.
- Understand the role of first aiders in emergencies.
Course fee includes:
- Professional instruction.
- All required equipment to carry out the course.
- Full colour manual.
- Students will receive an attendance certificate valid for 3 years.
The re-qualification course can be taken up to 3 months before the expiry date of the certificate issued by any HSE Approved training organisation, or within the subsequent 28 days grace after the expiry date.
All employers still need to continue to ensure a sufficient level of First Aiders in the workplace to meet the needs of their risk assessment.

There should be a first aider available to take control of all first aid arrangements at all times when people are working.
